The Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission will once again welcome  Tough Mudder -the premier obstacle course challenge designed to test physical & mental strength- for  its second return to Old Bethpage, NY in 2016. With two events planned for the weekend of July 23, 2016 the Sunday event, Tough Mudder Half will debut for the first time in New York with a five-mile course and at least a dozen signature Tough Mudder obstacles. The shorter format event will not include more daunting obstacles with Fire, Ice and Electricity the full Tough Mudder event is known for, instead focusing on obstacles that require teamwork and less training. RIVERHEAD, NY – For the third straight year, visitors to Long Island’s Wine Country will be able to tour the region without a car.  The Long Island Wine Council is once again organizing a two day promotion on consecutive Saturdays, November 7 and 14, called Taste North Fork, which includes special tastings, events, discounts and live music at the wineries. Long Island welcomes the wildly-fun ‘Divas Half-Marathon’ back to Long Island Oct. 4th, 2015. And it sounds like one fabulous event! WEATHER UPDATE: Diva planners expect the race to go on as planned but check the website if the weather turns at www.runlikeadiva.com/Events/Long_Island__NY.htm or www.facebook.com/RUNLIKEADIVA?fref=ts. “Diva stations” will be placed throughout the courses with DJs providing music and entertainment for runners, and a post-race dance party located at the finish line. Divas will receive special fit tech shirts, tutus, and boas and tiaras just before they cross the finish line. Bubbly will also be served in order to celebrate the occasion, and the city’s hunks will crown each finisher with a “blinged-out” tiara medal.
