Not sure how to spend your time on Long Island during the winter?  Once the holidays run out at this time of year the weekend events begin to wane, but all that changes once Long Island Winterfest: Live On The Vine arrives.  Created by the the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau,  Long Island Wine Council and as a project of Jim Faith Productions for East End Arts, this collection of events brings out the best of East End wine and live entertainment.  This marks the 9th year of the event series with 90+ wine events including over 50 musical performances.

The Long Island Doctor Who Convention is back for its third, record breaking year! L.I. Who, which has grown out of its original venue and in to a new home at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge, is running this November 13th, 14th, and 15th. Once again we have an extensive guest list highlighted by Doctor Who celebrities from the show’s full 52 year history. This year we expect to have nearly 2,000 attendees, almost double our previous attendance. Last year attendees traveled from 48 of the 50 United States and many foreign countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Pakistan.

Get all the information here: www.discoverlongisland.com/suffolkmarathon Residents of Suffolk County and more, with over 1,600 registered runners from all around, are ready to get stepping with the first ever Suffolk County Marathon!  The event takes place on September 13th, planned in conjunction with Suffolk County Veterans Services and a collection of other community organizations, with the proceeds gathered going to benefit veteran services in our county.  Split in to two lengths, the full and half marathons, the path of the run makes its way through the scenic towns along the stunning Great South Bay.  After crossing the finish line stick around for the Taste of Long Island Festival, where Suffolk County’s finest food and drink will be waiting for you (Runners get in free!)
