RIVERHEAD, NY – For the third straight year, visitors to Long Island’s Wine Country will be able to tour the region without a car.  The Long Island Wine Council is once again organizing a two day promotion on consecutive Saturdays, November 7 and 14, called Taste North Fork, which includes special tastings, events, discounts and live music at the wineries. In just 40 years it’s amazing to see how much the North Fork region of Long Island has evolved from a primarily potato farming region to a world-class wine producing region. Apparently the climate and soil conditions are just right for growing grapes here (who knew?). There’s been some great recognition of the region lately; in fact Redbook just named it one of the Top Ten Wine Regions in America. Redbook is a pretty prestigious, 110 year old magazine  owned by Hearst publications and has a total circulation of over two million.
